James calls us to stand with the cross of Jesus Christ – to take up residence in the tragic gap between what is and what should be.

Sunday was incredibly busy. Appreciated the opportunity to preach at all three services. Spoke to the passage from James 2:1-17, not showing favoritism and how we live out our Christian life in deeds. The phrase from Parker Palmer, "standing in the tragic gap," really spoke to me and that theme ran throughout the message. One of the commentaries I had read spoke also about James not asking Christians to choose between rich and poor, not to choose between black and white, not to choose between..... James calls us to stand with the cross of Jesus Christ – to take up residence in the tragic gap between what is and what should be.

Got home to a houseful of family, 18 of us altogether for a family reunion on husband's side of the family. It is enjoyable to spend time with family. We had people from MO, AZ, CA, MN and SD. Some of this family I have met only a few times before and others I met for the first time Sunday. Great day. Weather was spectacular.

Actually had a full day off on Monday. Unfortunately, my body sought sleep most of the day. What a waste of a beautiful Monday. I slept the entire afternoon away. Oh well. Brain and body needed the rest.

Looking forward to the week, to being successful in attaining some goals for the week. And then, toward the end of next week, will be travelling to WA to travel out where my son will be living while he attends graduate school. The following week is the Women's Walk to Emmaus at Storm Mountain Camp near Rapid City, SD. Then October already. Wow!
