Who Stole My Church?

Just finished reading Who Stole My Church? written by Gordon MacDonald. EVERYONE should read this. It's an easy read, it has depth, there are questions for discussion if used in a small group setting.

This is what the back jacket states:
A challenging, innovative approach to a delicate subject. It's sure to benefit church leaders and members of all ages who dream of a "reinvented" church

Has your Church Been Stolen out from under you?
A storm hits a small New England town late on evening, but the pelting rain can't keep a small group of church members from gathering to discuss issues that have lately been brewing beneath the surface of their congregation. The men and women assembled are all long-time Christians, mature adults, and dedicated church members. They could see their church was changing. The choir had been replaced by a flashy "praise band." The youth no longer dressed in their "Sunday best." The beautiful pipe organ sat unused. Even they felt out of place and uncomfortable in a church that had, until recently, felt like home. How will this group set out to fix what has become a deep rift in their fellowship? How will young and old learn to relate to one another's needs? Can the unity of their church survive, or even thrive?

I had purchased this book awhile back and like so many books, it went to the "read when I have time" shelf. The Reading Group selected this for the July discussion and so I pulled it off the shelf and could not put it down once I got into it.

While it is fictional, it certainly is thought provoking.
