Jessica's birthday

Today Jessica would have been 23 years old. She died in a car accident July 31, 2002 at age 17. I'd like to honor Jess by a poem written by her friend Lindsi Smith. We put part of this poem on Jess' tombstone. Thank you Lindsi, again, for writing this; and reading this at her funeral.

Our Angel

This is a remembrance of you,
The beautiful girl that so many knew.
You grew into the hearts of many people,
Now we gather to remember you at the steeple.

Your smile was one that lit up a room,
One that disappeared way too soon.
Your laughter was one to remember,
One that will be here forever.

You always had a cheerfulness about you.
It made people happy when they were blue.
Your life was a precious jewel,
To some people your existence was like a tool.

Sometimes we think we can't take the pain,
This all happened for a reason, it says in His name.
Just be strong and remember she' still here,
To help celebrate joys and forget fears.

Remember now she's an angel above,
Still here to care for and love.
She's resting in the arms of God,
Arms so strong, comforting and broad.

It might feel as if you're apart,
But look and feel, She's in your heart.
Jessica will always be alive and free,
She's in the sun, the wind, the grass, and the trees.

Focus on her time spent here on earth,
And that now she's had a new birth.
Jessica, we love you and miss you,
With you in our hearts, we'll make it through.
