The Call to Transformation

At this past weekend's 1st Annual Bishop's Laity Gathering, Bishop Kiesey reminded us of the expectations highlighted in her address to the annual conference in 2006. The full list may be obtained at the dakotasumc website:

I thought I would see how I am doing against the expectations for the individual. The full list contains expectations not only for the individual but also for our communities of faith and the Dakotas Annual Conference.

We are called to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Transformation Into God’s Kingdom on Earth
Our Lives:
I expect every leader of this church — lay and clergy alike (myself included) -- to:

1. Spend time every day in prayer.
2. Be involved in and participate in regular worship.
3. Participate in a small group for study/spiritual grown/accountability.
4. Tithe.
5. Be involved in a “hands on” ministry regularly.
6. Read.
7. Work toward a healthier lifestyle.

I can say for me that I am making progress in all areas, and like most people, could certainly be doing better (particularly as it relates to a healthier lifestyle).

In this Holy Season of Lent, how are you doing in your Spiritual Disciplines?
